The Land of Opportunity...

Well i have a job! two actually...went for an interview at bath with the council there (bath and NE somerset council) and they offered that role to me at 15.50/hr. not too shabby at all. and then monday went up to beverley and nailed the coastal job after a 10 minute powerpoint presentation on their plan! so totally stoked. the job up in yorkshire is ideal - implementing a ICZM (integrated coastal zone management) plan by designing a second generation shoreline management plan (make sense?) with the folks around there. great fun. apparently it snows down at sea level up there too...so anyone for a beach holiday?

there are also at least 3 nuclear power stations in my county, each with 8 huge chimneys (i think - at least they all look like Springfield). kind of weird. dont want to stay there too long then aye, might get sterile!

To Bath or not to Bath? that was the question, the answer is that that job is development control work and can go to hell. i told them i would do it for 20 quid, because i knew they wouldn't go there. as if money is MY driving factor anyway. bring on the coastal opportunities.

but what's a young lad like me going to do in east riding of yorkshire? play creecket perhaps (Geoff Boycot accent)

Yorks is a very friendly place though. i have already met quite a few people. i ended up having to hitch a ride into beverley as i had missed the last train on sunday night (thanks to the dick that sold me the ticket at 6pm on sunday!). great litle cafe there to, way better than sidetrack!

but more importantly, where the phuck am i going to watch the rugby?? it's all league up north. any kiwis play for the hull league team?

is this a dream...? two jobs from two interviews (keep up the perfect record - 5 from 5)...mwa ha ha ha ah (evil laugh).

have been listening to a lot of brit music over here - how good is hearing the pogues' "dirty old town" when in london! damn good i tell you. also been putting on a bit of the old oasis (the rooster will like to hear that) and some beatles. all good.

enough blabbering on, london AWAKE from your APATHY! things don't only happen on the news and to people you don't know.

PS. Now all i need is a good woman...stay tuned...same bat channel, same bat place, same bat time...

Tom you are too cool for words. Powerpoint presentation on their plan eh? seems like only yesterday we were coaching you on how to do a job interview, now you are a sophisticated expert with a 100% success record! I have been to York but not the coast up there - where will you live?

Tom - well done my friend. Don't know where the hell York and that other place is - somewhere north of London?!? (should have gone to Bath - I know where that is). Awesome work. So is the trip to Spain still on? If you need someone to carry your bags, I'm only a phone call and a few thousand miles away...
Take care.

You rock Tom! I've been to York but not East Riding you lucky devil!(?) If you need a hit of pure chocolate, there is a fantastic chocolate shop just inside the town walls - divine! Also a great pub along one of the canals...
Very glad that all my family and friends are accounted for. Not to detract from the gravity of the situation, but did anyone else notice on the telly that in mid-July (aka the height of summer!) Londoners were traipsing aboutin their winter coats???
Take care Tom
