Tarifa - Cadiz - Seville - Lisbon - Peniche
Dear mum,
it has been a long time since I last wrote, and I know how you have all been missing it (all three of you that actualy read this crappy page), so here goes...
I am now in Portugal and have met up with a mae from EBOP and we are travelling up the coast from Lisbon in a rental car loking for gnarly tubes to ride. I mostly watch because it has been to big for us learners, but it is still fun all the same. We have found some reallt nice beaches, and they are mostly deserted or have only a few people on them as it is past the main tourist season - definitely the best time to come over to Portugal. I have taken heaps of photos but the little Flickr badge that you normally click on to go and see tem has disappeared...even this is too complicated for me.
Little known facts:
- 1L of Wine can be bought for 50 Euro cents from the supermarket and it actually tastes ok
- travelling on your own is great as you can do whatever the hell you want, whenever the hell you want to do it - unless it is siesta time, then everything closes
- more people drown in the Sahara than die of dehydration
- the ABs will win the World Cup with a last minute drop goal from Chris Jack
- it is only 3.5 hours from Seville to Lisbon not the advertised 8
- Seville is amazing. I saw threee nights of flamenco in a row, there was a biannual fiesta on in Seville and everything was booked out. But we did manage to see a very special performance in an old Arabian house palace where the sound was just amazing, and the spectacle. I would love to learn how to play the flamenco guitar.
- Driving on the right hadn side of the road can be fun, and dangerous- especially if you dont know te road rules and who to give way to
- I left my brand new converse all star shoes in Tarifa at the hostel.
- I left my towel and boxer shorts in Fes on the roof.
I am starting to think about getting a job and a flat and a visa now. These things are weighing on my mind, I wish they could all be sorted out before I get back. Reality of London beckons...
France first.
