Classic one liners.

Words of wisdom from the big Governator in Kalifornia: You cannot deny climate change now as a politician because… "Your political base will melt away as surely as the polar ice caps," he said. "... You will become a political penguin on a smaller and smaller ice floe that is drifting out to sea. Goodbye, my little friend! That's what's going to happen." Doesn't it remind you of some of Arnie's classic one liners? "Let off some steam Bennet" as he shoves a steam pipe through the other dude's chest. Awesome. He's still got it.

Flat hunt

I need a flat...anyone know of any flats or rooms in Welington City for rent?

At least I've played cricket

Cricket World Cup: So am thinking of heading over to the World Cup in the Windies as Mr. H.Marshall - no-one will know! I bat just as good as he does. It's fair to say we're fucked now, Vincent a.k.a Buttface, has gone with a limp wrist thanks to secret agent man, Tuffey has gone and so there is no-one to play guitar and sing 10 guitars for the boys, Dizzy is still lame and apparently can bowl but not throw. Otherwise I was starting to rate our chances of getting into the semi's. I've also decided to apply for a job in a fried chicken restaurant in Bermuda, as there is one hungry mofo heading home, and we all know fried chicken is slimming. Go the Rock Leverock! the working man's hero. Apparently Inzi sat on Bob's face and that is why there is no marks, and explains the vomit.

MISS UNIVERSE NZ returns

Get voting in the relaunched Miss Universe NZ ! I think i'm going to vote for either Carena West (she should be of Outrageous Fortune), or Miss Tauranga. I hope they televise it. One of them is a sharemilker and fishing guide! Go NZ! Go women's lib!

Just a few more records for those Aussies to break yet...

Just a few thoughts about the gloroius (never to be repeated at dinner parties in Sydney) victory over the Ockers this evening - let's fucking rub it in. Mr. Cricket or Mr Match-fixer cum bookie? Shane Bond's catch is going to be on the highlights for a long time. They say Michael Hussey is so hot that when he went to the Virgin Islands, when he left they just called them 'The Islands'. Does Michael Hussey now have the dubious distinction of having the best one day record as a player, and the worst as a Captain? Spanking " The 77-run over Martin Williamson March 19, 2005 Bert Vance: a footnote in cricket history © The Cricketer When people are asked what is the most number of runs to come off one over, thoughts turn immediately to Tilak Raj and Malcolm Nash who both conceded 36, to Ravi Shastri and Garry Sobers respectively. But in February 1990, Bert Vance went for more than twice that number in what ranks as one of first-class cricket's oddest overs. T...

I went to the Freakshow and never came back

The Clockwork Orange droogs and a Borat, with a pregnant Britney in the background, all class. Yup, went to the 7's last weekend in Wellington...and saw it all. Sometimes I saw too much.

The life that is: Part 1

Need to find a new job, that is this week’s mission (check out the email signature though…oh yeah). I’m doing a bit of part time work between going to the beach and swimming with the thousands of little baby jellyfish (little buggers get everywhere). The trick is I have to do enough work to be able to send in an invoice so I can get paid – like a self help circle. So am kind of giving up on that a little, even though it is filthily lucrative… Been looking for work in Sydney, Wellington and here in Tauranga and have a few leads thanks to my proven blagging skills – like any policy analyst really…so hopefully one of them comes up soon. Or two…mwa hahaha! Time for more adventures I say. The time back home has been good, great to catch up with the family. And it’s now like I have never left, no-one has really asked me about my stories, or at least it doesn’t seem like it. I used to love sharing stories with the old flattie in UK. In fact that’s probably one of the better things ab...

JBT: unearthed

How good is that guy! he's just buzzing out...freaking awesome and damn inspiring, I wish I could play a guitar 1/10th as good as that. Was just checking his wenbsite out and they've got this clip of him out-busking some radio DJ dude and making $260 in 15 mins (including time to walk half a mile there and back). Legend. Go the independent muso.

Freak out Friday.

Hmm, what's new? - missed out on my scholarship at Sdyney Uni and now have to save up some cash to do it next year, or next semester. - the sea temperature is a balmy 20 degrees, up 4 degrees since the beginning of the month!Bewdiful - you can stay in as long as you want without getting cold. - aside from that, sweet FA. Am trying to perfect my bodysurfing technique at the moment. But that is coming along slowly with the injury to my right tricep caused by the throwing action (I had it checked out). Need to build the strength back up in it. - looking for work as both a consultant and an employee - any leads? - Do you know what sux? here, let me tell you: Carphone Warehouse sux that what. They cancelled my phoe insurance without telling me, and then when i go to hand my phone back in early from my contract like i was always intending to do, they are now going to sting me for the rest of the contract - 12 months at £30/mth. Get fucked! So i've closed my UK bank accounts and...

back to life, back to reality

Well after all that it was a pretty reasonable Xmas, pretty decent weather, and good company. I decided that I liked Sydney and Bondi and the whole feel of the place - missed Paris Hilton showeing at Bondi Beach doing a bit of promo work for some new blonde beer - won a few games of the old Trivial Pursuits - Traveller style. Was a good version where you could gazump someone else's pie, and each colour was a different continent. Did a bit of Xmas shopping for myself, some new t's and shorts. Pretty successful present buying - a wormfarm for Anna and aDavid and whanau, and some canvas prints of photos for the olds of Seatoun and the old homestead. Managed to catch up with the cousins from ACT. Altogether a pretty good time. Next up was a bit of R and R time with the boys up in the Coromandel. Just the 3 of us this year - Mark, Mike and Me. Excellent times, just chilling at some pretty cool beaches, a classic summer gig of Shihad and the Datsuns (the Datsuns kicked Shihad...

The Bondi Christmas, Part Uno.

Well it’s almost Xmas, and it’s been a different one already. We have a very eclectic bunch of people this year round, I’ve called them ‘the misfits’. The long lost aunty and uber-geek son in tow, the two of my sisters with the most preferable disposition for arguments, a bunch of kids used to getting their own way, tired parents, and me… It’s been a bit wet already, but that hasn’t stopped me from swimming. And today I went for a run almost down to Coogee, possibly about 10 km all up, including a swim at Bondi on my return, whereupon I as too dog-tired to even bother trying to stay afloat. Interestingly, the water temperature has been down on what we’ve experienced at the Mount. Plenty of surfers around, got me interested in having another go, don’t think my hosts have a board and wettie though, so that could make things a bit tough. Am looking forward to a Pimm’s when the sun kicks in – maybe booze will solve the brain malaise I am currently experiencing. Having sussed it out fo...
