Auckland stadium

Does anyone outside of that microcosm of Auckland actually give a fuck? I say Eden Park, and then they should put the waterfront concept to a significant public consultation exercise a bit later on. It’s not Wellington. This is possibly the worst consultation exercise ever – although on the other hand, a good healthy public debate like they had tonight on TV always helps – 25, 000 people rang in! I reckon it was one person 20,000 times who lives just across the road from the proposed waterfront location! BTW – what sort of consultation limits access to those who can afford to pay the 0900 number fee!!?

Don Brash:
Seemed like a bit of a flake in the first place. Don was just one of the suits on Lambton quay that got lost and ended up over his head, dicing with Michael Cullen on the front benches. I loved the classic shot of him trying to get into that speedway car! Just flicked over to the Māori channel, which I think is great and they hated him. “Ever since Orewa he has been making derogatory comments about Māori”. Then they quoted Winston Peters as calling his downfall!

They also had coverage of the Māori rugby league team taking on the Cook Islands in a huge battle in Rarotonga (is that like Island of Origin? Or would they all be playing for the same team?), which was cool to hear about.

U2 tonight. Should be a ripper. I managed to get one of the last 1,000 tickets that went on sale on Wednesday as I just happened to be on the net when the announcement came over on the Rock, then they did the countdown, and I was in! So pretty happy about that. Although I’ll probably win one on the Rock Friday morning now! Good ol’ Murphy’s Law always strikes us Irish fellas.

Bought me a car Thursday too. Nice little Nissan Avenir, golden poo coloured I have heard it described as…What a sage though – what with money transfers from bank to bank, pressure tests on cylinders (3 ¾ out of 4 aint bad), car maintenance, 25 hour warranty claims, not to mention the incredibly gorgeous woman at the National Bank who happens to be my bank consultant. She is a total vixen.

Also got tickets to the Wellington 7’s on in February 2007 – to get dressed like Clockwork Orange, and tickets to Mercury rising in Whitianga to see Fat Freddy’s drop some mean tunes to bring in the new year. And the night before, Shihad are playing with the Datsuns up the road!! Life is good amigos, life is good.

Jesus, what a fucking rant – sorry about the brobdingnagous length and breadth of that – but that is what I always say... Sayonara.
