Weekender

Man I haven't been down to the windmill for an eternity...it seems like an eternity. However, you will all be pleased to note that I duly completed a session of family bonding over the weekend with my older, but notably shorter sister down in Hackney - home of thhe 2012 Olympics (close enough anyway). We watched some bastard referee try and ruin the Grand Slam for us by pulling out a few yellows. "It was like being at Heathrow all over again, there were so many yellow cards flying around" - thanks JC (that's Jerry Collins, not the other big fella). Gave a good bit of gyp to the locals in a local bar. After we finally made it. My notorious sister was her usual self and turned up with 20 minutes already gone - after I had arrived (admittedly a little unexpectedly) on late Friday night. Still got a good spade in on her flattie (a.k.a WonderWoman).

So the Guinness flowed. My goodness you say. And it flowed. And flowed some more. Then a few of us hit the highlights of Dalston for an amazing, fantastic, somewhat meaty, yet brilliant feed of Turkish food at 'Number 15/19'. All for a lazy tenner. Food, beers, good company = a great night out. Participants were: Ellie, Alcuin (LE's flattie), Jeremy and Marie, and some other guy. We then ended up at some crazy 'party' underneath Jezza and Muzza's new flat. That was followed by bacon, eggs and bagel at 5 in the morning back at the flat.

Has IT been cold! Down to -5 some nights. Snow expected on the Wolds this Friday (and they are not even real hills, maybe 200-300m high AT VERY MOST. Ice on the pavements in the morning as I skate my way to work. They are building all the ice rinks in London - Somerset House, Natural History Museum - and around the country. And apparently it gets cold in February. Yee phuckin hah grandma.

Went for a drive today up to South Shields (across the river from Newcastle). It is miles away. It's like driving to London. But the fog...absolutely classic. Still there at 2.30 in the afternoon. What a miserable existence...no wonder we turn to drink.
